NITROSTAN 2 PART RUST INHIBITING EPOXY PRIMER

This primer does not contain lead and chromate pigments and still has excellent rust inhibiting properties.  When properly applied, this primer produces an excellent corrosion-resistant film over many substrates.  It has excellent adhesion to steel, aluminum and other properly prepared surfaces. When used on bare steel, it can improve the adhesion and moisture resistance of the body filler.

HOW TO USE NITROSTAN 2 PART RUST INHIBITING EPOXY PRIMER

This primer is lead and chromate free.  When used over bare metal, it will improve the moisture resistance of the body filler or primer.

PROCEDURE FOR REPAIRING NICKS:

First, sand the rough edges of the nicked paint to a smooth surface. This is known as featheredging. Featheredging tapers the edges of the paint so that it gradually blends in with the metal surface. This is best accomplished by hand. Start with a sanding block of #80 grit sandpaper. When the rough edges are sanded down, switch to #240 grit and wet sand until smooth. For a very smooth finish, wet sand with #400 grit sandpaper by hand.

Applying Primer: After the nicked area is sanded to a smooth surface, the primer should be applied. Never leave bare metal exposed, since moisture in the air quickly encourages rust to form. A small amount of rust will prevent the paint from properly adhering to the metal. Priming with the Rust Inhibiting primer will prevent rust from forming and ensure good bonding of the finished paint.

Clean the area of sanding residue and wipe with a tack cloth. Following the mixing instructions on the can, spray a medium coat of primer to the area. Always cover nearby trim, chrome and glass to prevent primer overspray from marring these surfaces. The surface is ready for THE SPOT & GLAZING PUTTY.
